Location is the new timeline
In a society where smartphones are taking over, the idea to start a location based social network doesn’t come out of the blue. Creator Things World Wide, a start-up and spin-off of Prophets, is proud to present its own completely in-house-developed smartphone application: Krumb.
Everyone has this “fear of missing out”, but we are overloaded by irrelevant notifications. When you’re waiting for a bus, you automatically grab for your pocket and scan your social media, but actually you don’t do a damn thing.
Wouldn’t it be nice to receive relevant information about the location where you are at that moment? View the many metro station artworks below your feet while you´re strolling along the streets of Brussels; already admire Knokke-Heist´s future community centre while standing in front of the construction pit; or attach a photo of that fun moment to that one place so that friends can re-experience it later at this very spot; … All of this is possible as of today, with Krumb.
Discover what happens around you and share with friends.
How it works
Krumb is the revolutionary app that adds a digital layer to your surroundings. A krumb can be a picture, a piece of text, a drawing or all of these combined. When you drop a krumb, you choose whether it stays put for one day, one week, three months or … forever. You can share it publicly, to your followers or to a specific person. But, do remember, a krumb can only be seen at the exact location where it was originally dropped!
You can share inside information to outsiders, but also very personal memories. Compare it to carving a heart on a tree or hanging a lock at the Pont des Arts in Paris.
In your personal krumb feed algorythms determine which krumb is more relevant for you and thus shown higher. And also inside, where GPS signals are weaker, it is possible to get very accurate krumbs thanks to the integration of iBeacon technology.
To show you the many possibilities and applications of Krumb, we collaborated with a bunch of partners all over Europe. In Antwerp you might find krumbs of Ringland and how the polluting ring could be covered up with a park. In Aalst it is possible to relive the annual carnival along the route, in Amsterdam the city archive shows you historical images of the famous ramparts and in Berlin and Paris it is possible to look inside famous designer’s and artist’s homes, thanks to Freunde von Freunden.
If you’re familiar with Sergio Herman, Ghent Streets, Felixarchief, Stad Leuven and many others … be sure to check out Krumb!
We’d love to tell you more about it. Should we meet for a coffee? Just drop us a line.Yes, contact me
